Fall Creek Gorge
Fall Creek Gorge Preserve (The Potholes) has been described as modern art on an ancient canvas. It is one of the most scenic areas in west central Indiana with its steep walled canyons, tumbling waters, and potholes — large, circular openings in the sandrock that form the bed of the canyon — providing a picturesque home for unusual flora and thriving fauna.
Portland Arch Nature Preserve
Portland Arch, named for a natural bridge carved into the rock (a feature that is unique to the state of Indiana), is beautiful with its dramatic sandstone gorge and the meandering creek that follows the well-worn path of the preserve. Also found is an assemblage of natural communities and features including cliffs, forests, open prairies, spring-seep wetlands and savannas – all offering an abundance of plants, wildflowers and trees.
